Default Dove 427 aluminum engine.

Anyone out there running a complete 427 Dove engine in a cobra?
Mike.

Almost 2 weeks without a reply probably means no. If you search Dove you will find lots of mixed reviews of their parts. My experience with Dove has been all bad. On the other hand you will find lots of good reviews of the Pond Aluminum Block and I would reccomend talking to Keith Craft about getting one. He knows what prep work is required for smooth assembly or he can sell you a complete motor.

65cobraking,
I have an aluminum dove engine that I ran in my first cobra for many years with excellent results. When the engine finally let go it was during a hard burnout at a dragstrip when it dropped a valve at high rpm. The block and tunnel port heads gave me years of trouble free service. The engine is on a stand in my garage now waiting to be dropped into a 68 fastback mustang I'm restoring. I was going to put it in my new ERA but the engine that's in it now runs great so there's just no reason to go through all the work. I've heard of people having bad experiences with dove engines but I've been very happy with mine.

I have a stroked Dove aluminum 488". Dove aluminum hi-riser heads, moldex billet crank, Comp solid roller, Carillo rods and in the beginning, a Dove "tall and terrible" manifold. Now have a Very Cool Parts stack system.

Am very happy....no problems yet.
