Steve, relatively simple as rear main seals go...drop the pan, remove the rear main cap. Push the top half of the seal around the main journal (I actually used the replacement half to push the old one out). Most folks recommend leaving the two halves slightly (1/16"-1/8") out of line with the rear main cap mating surfaces, and putting a small dab of RTV on the ends. The toughest part is getting the side seals in, but it is relatively easy too. Make sure the lips on the seals point toward the front of the motor. Put a dab of RTV on the top ends of the side seals too, if I recall.
