Default Need any FE block casting number

Greetings from England!

I have just completed building a Dax Cobra with a 390FE stroked to 427ci, pushing out 520Hp & 535 ftIbs of torque.

To get the car road legal, it has to pass a SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) test, which involves testing the emmisions. Passing it won't be a problem, but I have to prove the age of the engine block, and there is no casting number evident.

Checking on various web sites, I know that C6AE-A is a valid block number, but do any other numbers or letter follow this, and where should I stamp the casting number?

Any help/advice appreciated

DaxSC, Ebay sells this book or you can go to your local bookstore, Barnes and Knoble or of the like for you across the pond and obtain this book: High Performance Ford Engine Parts Interchange, 221-CID to 460-CID by: George Reid! Hope this helps.

If I am not mistaken, the cast date code is immediately adjacent to the starter on the block. there is a code for the month and year.

Thumbs up Date code

Look for date code hand stamped or cast on the block on the smooth flat area above the oil filter outlet, almost at the deck & head surface.

The date code is actually below the oil filter adapter mounting pad. On 63 and earlier blocks it is above it as jwoodard stated. But a C6 casting will have it below. It's on a small angled part of the block and it's a number/letter/number sequence. The first number is the year ending, the next letter is the month cast A-M skipping the letter "I" so A for Jan, B for Feb and so on. Dont' forget to skip "I". LOL. The last number or numbers is the day of the month the block was cast. Ex 6J20 = 66/Sept/20th. The letter "I" was skipped as it could easily be confused for a number 1.
