As far as I know, no. I believe it came out just a little late for the Cobras.

Most of the 427 street cars (not 427S/Cs) had 428s in them. Most say the reasons were cost and availability. The 428s were cheaper than the 427 side oilers.
Of course, Ol' Snake Oil Shel left the 427 badges on cars with 428s. The story is that Shelby didn't mention the 428s unless he was pressured to answer specific questions. In other words, most 427 buyers didn't know they bought a 428.

Well, my method of feeling my 460 is to first take it out to an upscale filling station for a nice long fill up of some really fine vintage AvGas. If its mood looks promising, I'll have a sultry conversation about maybe trying out some synthetic oil and PTFE filter next oil change. Then, when it's purring silkily, I ease into the garage, turn the lights down low, unbutton the hood, take the bra off the front, and gently ease my Jergens lotioned hand softly over the round, full, firm valve covers, gently massaging the erect oil breathers between my thumb and forefingers, feeling the heat of the wild drive in us both... .
How do YOU feel your 460?

Actually, if you do the math, the "428" actually WAS a 427
Maybe Ol' Shel did the math?

Bob, many guys feel that anything more than a handful is a waste. There are many otherwise beautiful cars with small blocks who turn heads and cause accidents just going down the street. It's all in the attitude they project, their overall attractiveness, their ability to make us DESIRE them.
I've been out with a number of small blocked cars many times and found them to be highly enjoyable, to put it mildly.

I'll take a 34C over a 38D any day of the week.
