Oil Bypass Valve

I just called KC to get some parts for my SO. One part was I needed a bypass oil valve (little plunger looking thing) spring and plug that goes in the lowere left back of block. They don't have them and said that they do not use em. What are the "Cool" guys doing about the oil relief? How? and Why?

I don't use a bypass on iron side oilers. I build a plug that slides in place of the bypass.

As Michael says, you can leave it out. But when using the valve at the back of the block, make sure you install it in the correct direction. If you don't, the engine won't build oil pressure. If for no other reason, that's a good one to leave it out . . . uh, replace it with a plug.

So, is it really that simple? Just leave the spring & plunger out and put the plug back in? I realize that the oil pumps all have a built in by-pass vale( almost the same as the one in the block) so issue should be OK. Thanks

This by-pass valve, or relief valve in the lower left side of the block at the rear, either must be installed or replaced with with a plug as described by Michael. After you install the relief valve or plug replacement, seal the oil gallery with the plug.
