Default Piston source for 390

I am getting a little deeper in planning the 390 build, and was wondering who to look for when it comes time for pistons? I want forged pistons, and will probably go with the factory cast iron heads which are 76cc's. After looking through Jegs, Summit, etc., I cant really find any. I found some in PAW's catalog that says they will machine the pistons to whatever compression ratio I want, but I have since heard some bad things about PAW, so Im somewhat afraid to go that route. Im looking for 10.5:1 or so.

So, does anyone have a good source for pistons, or can anyone give me any feedback on PAW's products- good or bad?

Thanks,
Greg

Diamond has a good line of forged FE pistons. They're a better than the main stream ones too. You might check Federal Mogul's Sealed Power line too if youre not going too radical. I'm running the Diamond pistons in my Keith Craft 482.

Do a search for Egge Machine. Excellent quality and selection.

Probe makes a set of forged pistons that will give you about 10.5:1 with those heads and a .040" head gasket. They have a 4cc valve relief....other than that they're flat tops.

I bought mine for about $414 shipped.

I've used Probe pistons on my Windsor builds. KC recommended them again for my FE build.

Cool- thanks for the leads. I'll check 'em out. Just seems all the compression ratios of the few choices a can find is wacked, especially with such a large cc. And if the heads need shaved, i'd be up around 14:1.

Have a great weekend!
Greg

Greg;
Before you buy, get the spec.'s you want and CALL some of those places you checked online. I have a boatload of stuff on my car that came from Summit but wasn't listed in their catalogue or website, including a full McLeod clutch assy. and flywheel, which I got a good price on. Just a suggestion.
