Cammer 427 went for $34,750.00 .Why is this worth so
much? Scarcity? bragging rights? performance? Thats an
expensive engine.It does look cool.

Yes, scarcity, not that many built. They do not come up for sale very often.

My understanding is that the Cammers can be built completely from available parts. I thought that was the point of another thread here not so long ago. They use a common FE block with a slight mod performed, Dove makes new heads, the rest is just parts procurement. Am I just misinformed here, guys?

Its an original Holman & Moody from the late 60's or early 70's. The premium is partly because of what it is , an original, partly because of rarity - they sure are and partly because of their potential. Tom Hoover was reported to have said in a private discussion after one of the Chrysler performance clinics that the biggest favor Ford ever did for Chrysler was the day they quit producing the 427 SOHC. Interesting isn't it!

These engines in original condition with original parts are like original Cobras. They command a special place in automotive history and like original Cobras they don't come cheap.

I believe you could build a 'replica' ( ) SOHC today from all modern parts. No doubt it would likely cost about $30K to do it!
