Default Aluminum heads - Unmarked?

I went to a Super Nationals car show today and there was an engine builder selling aluminum heads that he said were the same as Edelbrocks but with no markings identifying them as such. Price was about $800 for a pair to fit my FE.

I looked them over carefully and found they had steel threadserts at all the important points and looked exactly like Edelbrocks.

Anybody know anything about these?

I'm going to be talking to this builder again (located in Albuquerque) to get more information about them and to get a final price based on what valves and valve gear I want but thought I'd ask the experienced people on this forum to see if this is the right thing to be doing.

Thanks,

Paul

Chinese knock offs most likely. Edlebrock does all the R&D, the Chinese reverse engineer and take the profits.

Well.....talked to the shop owner today and found out that the heads his brother talked about at the car show are sold for everything BUT FE's http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/imag...lies/frown.gif

He said if enough people ordered these unmarked Aluminum FE heads he could probably get the manufacturer to make a batch. Cost would be about $800 for a pair with valves, springs, and keepers (might be a little more depending on spring choice).

These looked identical to a pair of Edelbrocks (Chebby) that he had on the table at the show.

Oh well.
