Default Dove rockers on Edlebrock Heads

Hello All,

I would like to know when assembled your Dove rockers with the Edlebrock heads if you followed the instruction sheet for the shim placement.

I just got off of the phone woth Dove and the gentleman explain to me that the Edlebrock heads have a different setup than the other manufactured heads for the rocker arm setup.

The sheet is wrong and does not apply to Edlebrock heads.

Basically,

Looking at the assembly with the roller tip down and the adjustment screw up
You should have a (8) 50ths shims in the kit. Proper assembly should be 1 on right side of the rocker & stand (exhaust rocker), then no shim next to intake rocker, then shim, spool, exhasut rocker, shim, mounting stand, intake rocker, shim, spool,shim, Intake rocker,mounting stand, shim, exhaust rocker, spool, shim, intake rocker, mounting stand, shim exhaust rocker, mounting stand.

ER = EXHAUST ROCKER
IR = INTAKE ROCKER
SP = SPOOL
SH = SHIM
ST = MOUNTING STAND

ST,ER,SH,ST,IR,SH, SP,ER,SH,ST,IR,SH,SP,SH,IR,ST,SH,ER,SP,SH,IR,ST,SH ,ER,ST

I hope you guys understand what I am trying to say.

Does this sound correct

Sounds like you have it right. I have the same set up as you and went through exactly the same process, calling the "Dove" man to clarify the confusion. I wrote down his instructions and compared my old notes against what you have listed and it is a match.
I did find that after mounting the rockers the end stands invaded the valve cover gasket area on the heads and had to mill a very small amount of the end stand to create the proper fit. I also exchanged the end stand bolts for a modified stud version thus maintaining the same fastener configuration and hopefully a more uniform torque set through out the length of the rocker shaft. The inner springs were also left out for initial startup/break in as well. Any other questions feel free to PM me.

Here are a few pictures...

End stand overlap before milling...

and after...

I added the spacers like Dove recommends. Is it normal to have a little space between the rocker and the shaft
