Which Ford Blue
I'll be painting my engine soon and want to know if there is any manufacturer of the "correct" Ford blue? I have a couple of cans of Ford Blue spray paint from the local car parts shop but I want to make sure I don't screw this up.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have not been able to find a Duplicolor "Mustang" dark blue....However, the MCA/AACA has been accepting (or at least never marking any points off) Plasti-Kote "Royal Blue", part number "T-16" in it's place for several years now. Besides doing a one off custom mix (it takes hours I tell you to get it right), this is the closest I have found to the original dark blue.

If it's to go in a Cobra...shouldn't it be black?

Can someone explain when Ford used light and dark blue colors on their engines and for what vehicle?
As far as Cobras, black was used on racing motors.

Black was the big block color up to 1965..
in 1966 they changed to the Ford blue.
If you are doing a Comp or S/C...then black is appropriate
...for a later street Cobra, use the blue.

I went to the dupli-color site and the 1606 "seems" very dark...they also have a 1601 which seems to be the medium color one...by no means am I second guessing anyone but some of the pictures I have seen or original 428 cars seem to be a lighter blue...
