Default Pinhole leak in expansion tank

I guess I'm another victim of a pinhole leak in the brass expansion tank. Is there an easy fix for it? The leak is in the metal itself, not on the seam. I can't justify spending $425 on a stainless one right now.

I have one for sale for 300 in the parts for sale section. Like new and beautiful, best of all it will never leak.

A little JB Weld on the inside where the leak was and that was all she needed.

It is directly behind the overflow tube and hard to get to.

If your tank is 30 years old you're fighting a losing battle.

I had an old one that would develop those pin hole leaks and after the 3rd trip to the raidiator shop for repair I broke down and got a new one from Finish Line.

A radiator shop should be able to solder it, if you can not do it yourself.

I had a serviceable expansion tank stripped, had the inlet turned around to the driver side (including soldering it all back up, and pressure tested, and it's been fine since. I had the brass tank polished ($60) and it looks great.

Mine ended up with several pinholes that the radiator guy soldered up (they weren't on a seam either) and it passed the pressure test. This isn't rocket science. The old ones have a certain character that adds to the vintage look of these motors (my opinion). If you're a neat freak you might not like that, but it worked for me.
