Ran the Cork and after a season noticed quite a bit of seeping, now switched to the Fel-pro Rubber and all is good. You might allready know this but using contact adhesive on the gasket will keep it steady and from creeping off later.

I was surprised NAPA gaskets work quite well. Trim the lock tabs a little and turn the VC's upside down on your work bench, silicone the gaskets to the VC's overnight.

Thanks, I had heard that before but I couldn't remember where! It was either at a car show or one of the forums but when I did a search it turned up nothing. I have fluorescent dye in my oil and you can see the cork weeping around the covers -- the little tabs are bright green under the ultraviolet light. I only get a drop or two after a ride though and, IT IS WRITTEN, that three drops or less on an FE is considered bone-dry tight. I have the Fel-Pro rubber gaskets (not the blue stripe) sitting around so the next time I pull the valve covers I'll toss those on. It just bugs me to see a drip, no matter how small it is.

My FE leaks like the Exxon Valdez.
The valve covers being one of the primary cluprits. I've tried all of the gaskest recommended and found the Felpro cork variety the least leaky.
The damn things still leak however.

Funny ... but you know, a Ford FE Superfund Case has a nice ring to it.

You may want to try this.
Pick the gasket of choice. RTV one side to the cover and let dry. When you are ready to install the covers, coat the engine side of the gasket with a good fibre grease.
Just a suggestion.

I've found that the relative "flatness" of the valve cover is more important than the gasket material. Make sure the valve covers at the gasket area are FLAT, and clean, before glueing the gasket to the cover. And if the covers have a thin web at the gasket, use spreaders ... and do not overtighten.

The biggest deal with the FE is making sure the heads and the intake are perfectly flush with each other....because they make up the valve cover flange. Of course, a lot of this is done at assembly time. If you're trying to make up for a little step up in that area, I put some RTV on the joint and build it up a little if necessary. I've had good luck with the cork gaskets.....and the Felpro rubber gaskets work well too.

Never had a problem with Cork
The motor has to be put together right or they leak. If you have to much oil in the heads you can not keep it in.. Miller Machine in Haverhill MA did mine. Phill is an old drag racer and has forgotten more about FE motors than I will ever know.
I use permatex (red) to stick the gaskets to the Valve Covers, don't over tighten the the valve covers (the alumium covers are truer than the steel)
I run Diesel Motor Oil which I think is a component of the no leak FE.
