Default FE 428 Engine Builder in CA

Can you guys recommend a good FE Engine Builder in California. The Engine will be mostly built to stock specs. I am looking for a builder that knows FE Engines. Thanks for the use of this forum.

Thumbs up I'll second that!

I'll second what Ed said, Tom at FE Specialties.

Look to your left and click on the FE Specialties link.

Good luck

P.S. Check out my photo gallery, to see some of Tom's handywork.

If Socal is your location Mike Lefevers at Mitech did great work on my 428 SCJ and was very fair and helpful throughout.

You still didn't say Socal or Nocal. Socal has JMS Racing Engines in Monrovia, Mike, 626 357-2718. He built me a Genesis 496 ci with 9.4:1 (pump gas) 608 HP FE. Dyno sheet in my gallery. They really know all the quirks of FE's. He even fixed a cam oiling problem with the new block. Note: the last 75 HP was possible because of the porting by Pacific Performance, Anaheim - Troy.

Good luck,

Brian

After seeing the work Tom Lucas did on my friends S/0 I my car and my 428 PI from LA to his place in Sacto. We'll worth the trip. Tons of experience and a real passion for the work.

Default New school or old school?

e anderson There are a couple of guys that build FE motors, Old school Joe Boghosain. He has been building FE since the 60's. Dick Smith raced and won many races with Boghosian power. He is old and a little rough around the edges. Don't let this influence you. Shop number is 559-233-6663. New school there are a couple of guys. Tom at FE Special is one, Mike Braun is another in Sf area. 415-550-4626 after 3:00pm pst. Mike Lefevers at Mitech. 714-572-3672. He started the Shelby motor building when they came to market. member of 200 mph club, salt racer, car in 300 mph club. Left Shelby due to problems with manufacturing of motor parts. The other choice is Gessford Machine. Check out there web site. Machine shop of the year in the USA. None of the others have this award hangin on the wall, not to say the others don't do a good job. They all stand behind there product and work. Rick L.

If you are in the Inland Empire area, Paul at Dugans Machine in Riverside gets my vote. He machined my 428 CJ and 427 SO Tunnelport engine. Will do my all aluminum Pond 427 next. Paul was also involved in developing the Pond blocks.
