Default fe lifter valley question

i debured the oil return holes in the lifter valley, there are 4 little nubs in the valley also 1 on each side in the front and back can these be ground down?
or do they hold the lifter valley tray in place?. what else can you clean up?
pictures would be helpfull.

I wouldn't be worried about it. All the tray is supposee to do is keep the intake cooler from hot oil splash. I did not use mine and have no problems.

lol !, yeah, the tray is pretty much old school. I wouldn't go to the extent of removing the nubs. What you have done is fine. Some like to paint the valley. I'm just concerned about it coming off so, I left it alone other than cleaning it well.

You should Gulzite coat the valley area and timing chain area. Allmy Fe's have been coated for pristine surface finish and oil run off. I have NEVER had any issues with the Gulzite peeling or flaking ect.

Beware of it on aluminum blocks though. The increased expansion will cause the coating to "pop" off.
