Default ford fe cam bolt question?

i am going to be running fuel injection on my 390 stroker, what do i do about the cam bolt?, i have heard that the fuel pump eccentric holds in the dowel pin for the cam shaft, does any one make a special washer to hold the pin in when not running the eccentric?. also do they make new eccentrics any info would be appreciated. steve

I would bolt in the eccentric as normal and block off the pump opening. The few ounces of rotating assembly for the eccentric will not be noticed.

I've never ran a mechanical fuel pump on an engine that I've built for myself. Just leave the eccentric off...most cams come with two dowel pins. One is longer than the other. Just use the appropriate pin and go with it. The cam bolt washer works just fine without the eccentric.

If you need an eccentric, check Ebay.

Now that I think about it, I think I just put a hardened washer under the bolt to keep the dowel from walking out.

Ditto here! No Eccentric, no problems for almost 8 years. Also, you can use a big block Chevy fuel pump block off just as well as a FE block off. Identical parts and the Chevy may be easier to find at Autozone, O'Reileys, Napa etc.

Like Brent and Clois I simply left the eccentric off and used a hardened washer underneath the bolt, leaving the eccentric off shouldn't be a problem.

Fuel pump block off
