Default Powermaster Starter for FE

There was an earlier thread started by "HiTech Cobra" where Barry R was going to list the correct Powermaster starter part # for the Shelby/Pond FE using a Quicktime bellhousing. Does anyone have that part number? Thank you.

Rodknock ... I recently tried a Powermaster 9506 on my Quicktime bell housing/Ponds block and had a problem as the mounting holes in the three bolt starter flange wouldn`t line up with the mounting holes on the bell housing . Two would , the third wouldn`t . Went to NAPA and pulled an FE starter out of stock and it fit perfectly . I also called Quicktime and they had the same result with a stock FE starter . Looks like to me , one of the "ears" is off several degrees .... not the bell housing .I don`t know if this is one case only , or a series of incorrect flanges .... just an FYI for you . I think the number you want is 9406 , but Barry can verify that for you . My 9506 had what they called the infiniclock feature , which allows you to rotate the starter to fit , unfortunately , the flange had one ear off .

Default Powermaster 9506

I used the powermaster 9506 w/ QT bellhousing. It fit OK. I had to add a shim to get the gear out of the flywheel. It is working fine so far.

The 9506 would fit ok .... just that you couldn`t bolt it up as one of the flange holes was off 3/32" , due to what I feel is a manufacturing/QC defect .I`m sending the starter back . I couldn`t get it torqued up to check engagement/alignment . Not really complaining as anyone can have a problem during manufacturing .

I only use two holes on my FE hi torque starter and it has worked perfect for years. Contact this guy from ebay he sells an excellent starter for a very good price. The starter is made by a company in California that builds and sells starters for fork lifts.

I have had my starter for over 6 years with no problems.

If you want an option, the Tilton starter is excellent for FE's.

I'm open to all suggestions/options and I appreciate them very much. I want a starter that's reliable and fits. I have a Shelby block with a QT bellhousing.

Do you have a part # for the Tilton?

Thanks guys.
