A link to torque specs for hardware would also be a nice reference if anyone knows of one?

It depends on the fastener...which ones are you needing?

Notice the torque is measured in INCH POUNDS up to the 5/16" bolts (to arrive at foot pounds divide the torque by 12) and I think these are for grade 5 bolts. Even if you are bolting down aluminium heads you still need about 105 ft lbs of torque but you MUST use the special washers (I just bought some for about $65.00) that go with the ARP Bolts.

Bolt Torque Specifications
BOLT SIZE TORQUE
1/4-20 85 in-lb
1/4-28 103 in-lb
5/16-18 180 in-lb
5/16-24 198 in-lb
3/8-16 22 ft-lb
3/8-24 30 ft-lb
7/16-14 42 ft-lb
7/16-20 47 ft-lb
1/2-13 65 ft-lb
1/2-20 77 ft-lb
9/16-12 95 ft-lb
9/16-18 105 ft-lb
5/8-11 110 ft-lb
5/8-18 120 ft-lb

I think Steve Christ's "How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES" provides the single best reference for FEs, to include torque specs. It comes highly recommended by the FordFE.com guys. I have it opened up on the bench everytime I crack a valve cover, well...almost every time.
