Default Leaking clutch slave cylinder

My clutch slave cylinder is leaking fluid. It was supplied by Southern Automotive, but I haven't been able to get hold of anyone there all week to find out if a repair kit is available.
It is a 1" bore cylinder with "S-134" cast into the side. Does anyone know what replacement seal I need?

Paul,
If you could offer some more information, serial number, number stamping somewhere on the body, or post a picture theres a good chance someone will recognize the SC and be able to offer up some information. A lot of times a leaky slave is a replacement of the main piston seal, which on some is just an O ring or two.
Hope you get it figured out.

Sounds like you over extended your slave.
When you replace/repair it you should check and see if a clutch pedal stop is in order.

Forget the rebuild kit - go to Napa and pick up a new one for $50.

If anything, I don't have quite enough travel, rather than too much.

Paul is in England. I am not sure if they have NAPA stores.
Aren't they the Wagner slaves?
What is the part number for them?
Is this the right slave Wagner # SC124111?


Paul,
You might have over extended the slave from day one and blew out the seal.
I am just guessing or it could have been bad from get go.
Call Bill at SA and tell him. He might just send you a new one or get him to give you the brand and part number for it so you can find a UK source for the slave. As Phil stated they are not expensive.
Finding the proper O-ring could be a real PITA.

Another thing you could do is call the Kirkham Bros. and asked them what slave set up they use for there cars. Sometimes it is a matter of using the slave that works with there clutch master.

Clutch pedal travel is affected by the master cylinder size -- the bigger your master cylinder is the less travel you need to get the same movement at the slave, albeit at the expense of additional pressure under the toes. In order to gain additional room for my long legs, I use an oversize Tilton, along with the stock BMW slave, on my ERA. Pedal configuration, master cylinder size, and the slave all need to work in harmony. If not, then you end up blowing your slave, or not fully engaging/disengaging the clutch. Here's a shot of my hydraulic setup; I'll give you part numbers if you're interested.

I was lucky enough to find a repair kit at a local motor factors. It's a Girling Lockheed unit apparently.
I'll put it back together this afternoon and see how it goes.

Check the bore for any corrosion, you may need to lightly run a brake cylinder hone in it.

It's only a few months old and has hardly been used. The bore is totally unmarked.
I've put it back together and the new seal seemed much tighter in the bore than the old one, but it appears to work fine.

I think my master cylinders are Willwood (if that's what Kirkham fit as standard). However, I would be interested to know what your slave cylinder is.

Someone would have to show me a difference between Tilton and Willwood cyilnders, I'm sure rebuild kits are available for most cylinders as long as nothing has happenes to the cylinder it self. The wearing part is just a neoprene cup but it is dependnet on clean fluid and a smooth bore.
