And check the coolant temperature with that infrared thingy, it is either too hot (if reading in Celcius), too cold (if in Fahrenheit) or (most likely) also malfunctioning. Coolant should be above 180 F and oil above 225 F for best performance and engine life.
If both oil and coolant temps are okay and gauges are wrong, it would likely be an electrical problem, but "could" be two bad gauges/sending units.
