How can this be done? 428 stroker to 482
Has anyone seen these ads and how can he do what he claims to 428 blocks. He also uses 2.25/1.75 valves on the 470ci block

I posted a response to a thread about this guy in the Lounge a couple weeks back.
As for 428-->482, I'm not sure how he's getting there. With a 4.160" bore, he would need a 4.43 stroke to get to 482.
He may be able to put engines together, but he's not an engine builder.

Easy, just switch the last two numbers.
Bingo, 482. Why so hard?

If I'm not mistaken, the 428 service block had thicker cylinder walls. I think that's why he makes it clear that these are SERVICE blocks. A number of stroker kits give the FE a 4.250 stroke. 4.250 X 4.250 = 482 CID. The new Genesis, Pond, Shelby etc can be bored out to 4.310" safely. My 496 is 4.250 X 4.310"

Why are guys knocking these engines? Has anyone had bad results or is it just because they are soo much cheaper then the engine builders on this site charge?

No 428 block will go to 4.250, or even 4.230 for that matter. A 4.250 x 4.250 is meant to start with a 427 block or an aftermarket block.
I have no clue how he's getting to 482, unless it's with a custom billet crankshaft.
Yes, I have had bad experiences with him, a couple of years back. He bores his blocks on the floor with a portable boring machine. That should give you some clue as to how professional the shop is.
Well, I will say this....that was about 3 years ago. He may have changed his ways since then.

I think he sweeps the floor before he bore them now, nothing like process improvements..

That's too bad, if he's the one you had trouble with. His site on ebay has good information and pretty pictures but, you know how that goes.
I suppose someone should alert him about this post, so he can defend himself. We'll see what happens

I'm confused... He had many items listed on ebay, but has NO feedback for the last 90 days??? His website nore his eBay listings give much detail on any of the products.
I would be cautious on just those facts alone....

I guess I shouldn't rag on him so bad. I had some bad experiences with him, but that was several years ago. Everyone's gotta start somewhere I suppose.

There is no Santa Claus
Like they say, there is no Santa Claus and you get what you pay for. I have had several calls from people that got this cheap stuff and are now wondering why they are having problems.
Never heard of the guy and know of no records that he has set with an FE. I did not know there was a need for a new FE Guru all of the sudden. Where have some of these people been the last 20 years before the FE caught on with these new parts.
Take your chances and you might get lucky, that is the chance you take with some of these Ebay only advertisers. Good luck, Keith Craft

Good question about this builder. He has also advertized/auctioned a SOHC cammer on ebay for 15k.Seems too good to be true. But until he's proven either way,my cash stays put.
it's really sad how difficult it is to choose a builder.heres what i mean.
I saw T&L engines on ebay.I came here and asked advice.U guys said check out ffcobra site, word is there shaky.I go there and bingo an entire thread on how much they suck.thats why were here to help right?
Now i go to ffcobra and T&L now sponsors a thread and everyone there is singing there praise. Like WTF?
Maybe I'm lucky I take forever to make up my mind!lol

A 428 bored 0.040 over gives 4.170 bore which would require a 4.41 stroke to get to 482 cid.
A 0.060 over bore would require a 4.375 stroke. This seems plausable to me, if you off set gound a 4.25 crank, I think you could get there.
Not that I have an opinion on the advertiser, just trying to see how he could get there.
