Header and sidepipe Gaskets

Hello,

I am looking for header and side pipe gaskets for a 427 FE.

What do you guys use for these gaskets.

Also, what bolts do you use for sealing the sidepipes for the headers.

I have tried SS bolts but they seems to break when I disassemble the side pipe.

Go to performance parts place an get the copper header gaskets for an FE motor and get the 1 inch header bolts, copper gaskets are the best.

Is that the name of the place "performance parts place"
or do you mean A performance parts place.

I tried the copper gaskets on a small block. They did not work. Leaked everywhere. I bought a set of laminated aluminum gaskets and they work great. No leaks. I've reused them a couple of time and still no leaks. I like them.

The header gasket worked so well that I bought a sheet of laminated aluminum (.048) and made my sidepipes to header gaskets. I made a pair for Lainhart's 427 Unique this summer. We have 180 miles on it so far but will not know about the gasket for a long time. Mine has 5,000 or 6,000 miles on them and are holding up to the pressure of a small block. (insert smillie face)

i use remflex. i even had them make the collector gaskets too. even got a partnumber so when i re-order for my customers or i , i just give them that.

if you search under Graphite you will find some good gaskets for headers / exh.

Copper gaskets are expensive and easily messed up!

Earl's reusable gaskets have an aluminum frame with graphite inserts.....BEST I ever found!!

I've tried the copper on mine, they leaked.
Currantly using graphite I got from Hooker. Two years with not leaks.
If I had to buy another set, I'd get Victor "nitroseal"

I use no gasket, however, my header flanges are 3/8" thick and flat. I do apply a silicone-like sealer though.
The sidepipes are slip-in and fairly unrestrictive. If you have too much backpressure they may leak at the slip joint.
