All I can say is wow.
Just curious, who and why was this project done?
Any certain market that will be targeted?

Special intake, apparent special exhaust, must use T&D rockers.. Too expensive for my blood. I think it's waaaayy too overdone for most enthusiasts, IMHO

The who of the project is Ed Lavender. The heads were designed and are being manufactured by Don Losito of Ultra Pro Machining. The why? Why not? FE's have lagged behind the rest of the automotive world in cylinder head development. We originaly started this project for just our personal use in the NSCA Pro Nostalgia class, however, since NSCA went belly up last year, we will not be using them for a N/A project. We will use them on a 525" twin turbo methanol motor in one of our outlaw 10.5 cars. Should make in the 2500-2800 hp range. The heads use no more custom parts than any other high end race cylinder head. Yes, they are overkill for average joe, but they are intended for the guy who wants a FE that will be able to be competitive with other modernized engines.

Great Heads. Yes, anything that encourages & promotes FE performance is OK in my book!

Get ready to drop about 10,000.00 for a set totally done. I looked and ask about them at the PRI show. Like you said they are not for the average guy but for someone wanting a real high HP FE enigne.
I am wondering if a 351 Spider cast intake might be made to work with some welding and milling. There are a lot of these around and they come pretty small when new so there would be some room to move the ports around. Have you looked at this at all?
Let us know the final price because the guy at PRI was giving me some rough pricing but I feel that I will be pretty close. Thanks, Keith Craft

I figured the technology has been available for some time to make a FE "BBC" style head, I was curious what prompted someone to spend money to develop such a head in a "limited FE" market. I guess although billet pieces are more expensive per piece, for a limited run of parts, I would think it would be cheaper to cnc pieces instead of making molds and casting heads.
What is the projected price for a set of bare heads ?

Saw this head at the pri also Keith, is typical of Don's work as far as I can see. Since the port (int.) looks similar to the smallblock stuff, I would guess that the .500 numbers are in the 350 zone.
We have been running Don's heads on our smallblock for a number of years and have set the NHRA SS/BM record with them.
I would guess that the carb height would have to be pretty high in order to make a proper transition into the head. Possibly too high for most cobras.

I agree with Keith, pure speculation on my part, but "all in" complete set of heads with T&D's will be every bit of $10,000.

And where are those heads and their numbers today? Would still like more than"intake flow is around 470cfm@900 or so. " and "I would guess that the .500 numbers are in the 350 zone. ".
Still amazes me that a guy, "EdsSpeedShop" creates an identity here to advertise his product and in 12 months never posts another word about its status...

Extremely impressive.
But price wise, I'm guessing you're in SOHC territory.
And if you want canted valve heads, you can build a 351C/400M or a 460 type engine.
I wonder how many FE die-harder fans will pony up for these pieces.
Blue Thunder and Dove already make respectable flowing original spec-like wedge FE heads, although I bet they donlt flow like these canted heads, which is why Chevy designed them in the frst place, and Ford copied the design.

Interesting, I was not aware of that many FE powered Cobras within this club being raced competetively on the road course tracks, and probably only a few FE powered Cobras in drag racing as well.
If not, it sure would be fun to see other folks with FE powered cars (Thunderbolts/Fairlanes/Mustang) drag cars try these. Would love to hear how they sound (Loud ????) as compared to a standard FE head configuration.
If anyone tries a set in the future, please post a (before & after) Youtube video so we can all see and hear it.
