Default Le Mans bowls on a double pumper?

I have a Quick Fuel 950, based on a Holley Double Pumper design. I would like to put Le Mans bowls on it for appearance sake. All Le Mans bowl carbs that I have seen are vacuum secondary carbs, with the accelerator pump on the primary bowl only. Is this the way they all were, or is this just the sampling that I have seen? If so, is it possible to use two primary side Le Mans bowls for the two accelerator pumps? Has anyone done this? Will it work?

I did this. You have to use two front bowls. If your secondary bowl has a bigger accelerator pump, swap them out. Make sure the accelerator pump hole to the metering plate is drilled out, mine was not. I got my parts from Carls ford parts.

You're talking about the hole that is in the bowl leading from the pump cavity to the metering block, correct? This had to be a flaw in the individual bowl you bought, since these are primary side bowls and the pump would have been needed even on the original carb, no?

I have done this since 1975 on a B production GT350 (cheating with double pumper) and now race the car vintage. Make sure you set the float levels the same as stock, not the primary height in the secondary. Also 4 corner idle makes a big difference, but your carb may already have? Best of luck

I took me a while to figue out, throttle got locked up. I was mad and bearly made it home.

I did this but as I recall the secondary (rear) bowl had the initial casting provision for the diaphram (both bowls are initially the same before machining). I had to use the Main body and metering blocks, and throttle base plate for a Double Pumper. I then drilled the passage in the rear bowl leading from the pump cavity to the metering block and intersected it with one of the two holes drilled in the pump cavity floor. Then put the little red rubber "Mushroom" check valve, threaded the 4 holes for the diaphram cover and that was it. Then you end up with a single 4bbl that most efficient air filters will not fit because the carb is too long!

I use a stellings and hellings air filter. You will lose maybe 5hp. My dyno was 10hp difference between no air filter and with filter.

Can I ask why you would want to put "Le Mans" bowls in place of the glass windowed bowls you would have on your QFT 950?

You say for appearance, but the carb body and the red billet throttlebody is a dead giveaway anyhow.

I bought a QFT 750 for one of my mates, because it has every feasible option available out of the box.

I was most impressed with it's features and to give up the ability to adjust the float level and not make any mess doesn't make sense to me.

If you want the "Le Mans" bowls for appearance, build up a complete Holley carb.
