Default Edelbrock heads

Who has the largest combustion chambers in a set of Edelbrock heads with big valves? Thinking of going with a Novi 2000. without losing the quench in my heads.

When we CNC stuff we start out with the 72cc chamber and end up at +/- 81...

I believe their bare "427 castings" are 76 cc. The Eboks tend to run a liittle larger CCs then what they advertise.

Default Shelby are bigger

jimmymac Shelbys are bigger with 2.25" intake valve and 1.75" exhaust. There is room to port them. If you are runnig a Novi 2000, just gasket match the intake to the heads and open up the exhaust a little. Smooth the short radius out. You want a port demension about 82-85% of the valve seat opening. This will get you into the ball park. With boost you don't need alot of port work. Are you sure you can fit the blower under the hood without either a paxton hood or cutting out a fender? ASP sells any type of pulley setup you could want. I took mine off after 2 years of belt problems. I ran a double idler setup and still ripped belts( cloggs ). Oil return I tapped into the timing cover and had a Tee that was for the blower lube. I installed a filter to keep out any metal. I blow off valve is good, 2 are better. Is this FI fuel system or carb? If carb the air bonnet will hit the hood if you run a BT or Dove single plane manifold. Rick L. Have a large fuel system also. 1/2" line in and 3/8" line return. I run 2 pumps for steady pressure. Gessford has Blower brackets for this setup, Shelby may too. Rick L. Ps I made my own.

Default Largest combustion chambers possible?

Just wanted to know how large a chamber could be made with Edelbrock heads. Without loosing the quench area.

Default What size valves are you thinking of running?

jimmymac What size valves are you looking to run? 2.09,2.19, 2.20, or 2.25 with some work? What size bore are you going with? You you looking to unschroud the valves? Do you want to mill the heads and intake? You could go from a 50cc to about 100cc. You should also send a e-mail to Keith Craft and see what CNC programs are there. He would also match a camshaft to your needs for a blower motor with a 112 or 114 LSA. Rick

I have found that the quench area is not that big of deal on boost applications unless you are trying the to get the most on pump gas. If that is the case then you will need to be at about 8.5 to 1 on the compression and no more than 10 PSI unless you run an intercooler then you can go to about 15 PSI. We do a chamber that is about 88 ccs but you loose a little of the quench area. The cubic inch of the engine will also dictate what you will have to do with the piston and chamber size. If you want an un-touched 427 styel chamber like the Edelbrock 6008 has you will be looking at about 80 ccs. We take the 6005[72cc] and then run a chamber program on it to get the 88cc chamber.
