Default FE aluminium flywheels

I see a couple on e-bay at the moment and wondered if anyone here was running them, liked, disliked or trusted them?
Cheers Nick

Default Flywheel

I run the Centerforce Aluminum. It is the only way to go. There is no need to have a 40lb flywheel in a Cobra. You are not launching a 3800lb car. The lighter the better for reving and downshifting. I suggest whatever brand you go with that you get the matching clutch set-up. This will eliminate any bolt pattern problems.......Steve

Thanks Steve, any idea of the weight of the Al wheel. Do you have a radical cam and or smooth idle?
Cheers Nick

Default Weight

I believe the centerforce is about 17lbs as opposed to the stock 40lb anchor. My cam is pretty radical, at the border of streetability.

Default idle

1000-1200. I run 110 octane minimum.....It's a racecar with open exhaust. Don't worry about the aluminum flywheel, it will be fine with a street car.

Mickmate,

I'm running a billet alum flywheel and a pretty radical cam also.
I can idle down around 1000 rpm and have no problem on the street.

Go for the aluminum, you'll be pleased with the responsiveness.

Later,

Default McLeod alluminum flywheels

I have a older Mcleod alluminum flywheel. It had a 11.5" steel heatsheild for a 11.5" clutch setup. It also has the bolt holes for a 11" pressureplate. McLeod is replacing all11.5 " clutches w/12" where bellhousing clearence is addiquit. They make a 12"pressureplate that fits the 11.5 bolt pattern( as explained to me Dark horse Performanse. My flywheel Was converted for $120 by McLeod Industries .I supose another brand would fit But the instock options the weekend of my need were not there without a 12" Heatsheild. The regular heatsheild replacement runs $85 if a used flywheel needed it.
