Just wondering....has anyone tried going with a crank triggered ignition to eliminate the distributor completely (I saw one post where someone used coil packs placed over the valve covers....is that crank triggered?)?

Stephan & all... I've decided a XFI injection system for my 347 (8- stack or 4- barrel; I've not settled yet!) and I've been using the resources at Comps tech forum alot. Go here for XFI tech forum: FAST Product Support - CPG Nation Forum
You will also find tech articles, news, updates etc. here.
To be honest I have to say that the Inglese and Fast XFI catalogues/ tech info is rather disapointing. Here's the list of information I have not found in the catalogues/ tech pages:
Diameter of distributor shaft (to get other gear types)
Bolt diameter on stack flange on 8- stack 50mm IDA TB's (as I think the cost of 440$ for a set of stacks is rather steep)
Distance between the ends of the fuel rail (to figue if a U aluminum tubing can be used)
If the appropiate fuelrail fittings are included and what's the AN size of the fuel in/fuel out? (to plan regulator setup & parts needed)

If the distributor is in the way, can't you plumb it with the end of the fuel rails capped like version B in Wayne's fuel plumbing diagram below?

That's my thought as well.
But keeping the two rails connected might make fuel reservoir a bit larger and also supply fuel to the "lean" side (if such is likely to happen).
It's maybe OK to plug the ends, I don't know (as an am a fuel- injection rookie).

these two kits work very well together. It was simple to install and dial in (this took two people and a spirited drive). My dyno sheet is in my pics. The feeling in the car is strong, and forceful. I have a KC 427 and get around 20 mpg, but my right foot is pretty heavy, I could get better but that is not why I have this car!

I'm not sure if you are looking in the right place for tech manuals. The FAST manual is 200 pages and has details that are well above anything you would use for a street cobra application. Their products are vetted from stock cars through drag racing. Their web site is above, I would suggest going there for tech information rather than a forum or just give them a call the are very helpful over the phone. I have had good luck with both.

We have used both and made both work pretty good on the engines we have done. The Fast EZ EFI is neat because of the self tuning. With the built in plenum under the intake it can read manifld vacuum which is very important on this stuff.
We made our own loop line at the front. The rails are cpped at the front but we just moved back a tad and drilled and tapped the rails and put in our own loop line at the front which is what I think you need to get all injectors working correctly and seeing the same amount of fuel.
The small block set up is about as good as I have seen. We just finished a FE and a SB Ford with the Fast XFI stuff. We have to do some tuning on the dyno and get it close then the finaly tuning needs to be done in the car with the laptop. I think it is easy to use and tune. You have timing tables to work with and fuel tables to work with. Just driving the car around you can feel the changes that you make. I have found in some places the engine likes 14 to 1 and in some 12.5 to 1 air fuel ratio.
We can help with a complete engine with either the TWm or the Inglese, we have done several of both.

This sounds promising, Keith. Good tech tip too.
Rwillia; I have the FAST software and manual installed and have looked at it alot; I have found some answers, but not all.... And the Inglese stuff I have found no manual for at all. Will come with the kit, I suppose.
