Eight stack
Is a eight stack really worth $8000 - $10,000 because those are the numbers I'm being quoted to install on my car? Backdraft 351 stroked to 392 Holley 750.

To do it correctly at my shop that's what it would take, with dyno tuning etc.

To answer your question, no, it's not worth it.
That's probably a reasonable price, considering the system will approach $5-6k just by itself, not including the labor to install and tune.
If you're looking for horsepower, you won't find it here unless your carb is undersized. If you're looking for gas mileage, the ROI just won't be there.
If you're looking for a more modern induction system that would allow the engine to function more efficiently and would give you more modern OEM "perks", then you would have to weigh how much that means to you against the price.

Depends on what your goal is, and what your budget is. The 8 stacks look great, and performs really well if you set them up right. You can get a central TB system to perform a little better, for a lot less money. But, IMO, nothing looks as good as an 8 stack.
Would I pay $10K? No. Way out of my budget.

classic want vs. need. There might be a bunch of nice features/benefits about a stack system, but none of them or all of them put together could justify that price in a practical world. I still really want one though

Is it worth it? Of course it is. The question is, can you afford it.
Now if you want to do it right, put a cammer in your car with that 8 stack.

I recently picked up a chinese knock off 8 stack for under $1000 on Ebay. It included linkage, trumpets, fuel rails, manifold and throttle bodies. Add $1000 or so for a pump, tubing, fittings, filter and regulator, then another $500 or so for a megasquirt and wide band O2, and I'll be in business. My I've done a couple now and can do it myself.
All the chinese stuff is responsible for is regulating the air into the engine. As long as it doesn't dump the water into the crankcase, it'll do fine.

You get what you pay for - if you're lucky.
"All it does is regulate the air". I'v got to tell you, this is the MOST important part! If the throttle bodies are not balanced correctly, it will never run right. Never. The balance has to be near perfect. And there's no amount of tuning that will compensate for that.
Good luck.

Get some webers...look just as cool, period correct, and 1/3 the cost.
Just sayin'.

Just as cool? I though all the other induction systems were trying to look like Webers.
So aren't they all just some form of replica Webers.

I had the roush setup. Also remember the post installation care and feeding is non trivial. The linkages are nasty

I have the eight stack, eztune installed, expenses yep, worth it to me, you bet. Starts right up, shuts right down, no gas smell, wife loves that. Runs like a scalded jack rabbit out of West, Texas.

Well, when I bought it, I knew there was a reasonable risk I was paying almost $1000 for a piece of wall art for the garage, but no. It looks good. I completely expect to need to sync the throttles and double check that the butterflys are properly staked, but they are all adjustable. I may wish to remake the center bellcrank and linkage out of aluminum when I finish my CNC router/mill, but that's more for appearance. The supplied steel one is tight, ridgid and symmetric so it will reliably open both banks in unison.
And no. All that this hardware does is restrict the air going into the engine. All that's critical is that all of the cylinders get the same air flow through their throttle bore and the manifold seals to the heads and block. The injectors and ECU handle the rest.
Too bad it'll be a few years before it's on a running engine.

No.... no significant performance improvement...you are just paying big bucks for a look...if I had a GT 40 I might consider it because the engine is always in sight....just my two cents..

I have an 8 stack on my 40 and i have to say there are few differences from a 4 barrel set up. Mostly is the noise, induction noise from an 8 stack is awesome. Also the motor feels far more responsive with the 8 stack.
I couldn't have a Ford V8 without either a EFI 8 Stack or Webers.

So would that make the various stack induction systems "Weber replicas" or "Weber continuation" induction systems?
What does SACK say? Or is that SAAK?
