Well, how much difficulty are we going to encounter in Ontario getting Insurance for our Cobras? I understand that we have to re-certify our cars. They are picking the place that we have to go and get it done. This might be very painful.

Where did you hear about having to "re-certify" your Cobra? What does this mean, exactly?

I haven't heard anything about this.

Say what you will about public insurance, but with my safe driving record, registration and insurance in Saskatchewan for the 1991 West Coast Cobra I'm looking to purchase will be less than $600 per year.

I was with Hagerty for my three other classic cars and when I picked up the Cobra a few months back they wouldn't insure it. Something about not taking kit cars. My insurance broker found that the only company that was willing to insure the Cobra was CHUBB but only if I also gave them the other three cars. I had no choice. So I was bracing myself to get hammered but they came in at over $100 cheaper for all 4 cars than what I was paying Hagerty for three cars. Hagerty lost out there now and forever because of the inconvenience. Also, essentially the Cobra is insured for free thanks to Chubb. I should add however that at this time it's based on a $35g value since I'm waiting to properly appraise the car till the work has been completed on the hardtop. I'm told by Lou at ULTIMATE that to have him build that same car today is near 80g and that's without the hard top. I don't expect that it will rock my premium too much but this car is worth the expense.
