I just completed the installation of a new shifter location for FIA #2039. The transmission is an older TKO (3550) and it had the rear most shifter location which was a real pain, especially on track days. It was just too far back. I considered a bent handle but to me they feel strange.
I bought a shifter relocation kit from Forte (his newer version) and went to work. I wanted to do the installation in the car (it is stored for the winter in the trailer) so I cut away on the tunnel. Once I got all of the right pieces (Forte left out the key shifter lug) the installation was a snap except for taking out the original shifter lugs and shaft. As a temporary move I left the shaft and rear lug in the tx because you have to remove the drive shaft (spring project).
The shifter is now in the perfect position. See my picture gallery.
If you want to do the same, contact me and I will give you the details.
