Hello Cobra folks,
as a long time reader here in the Cobraforum and as a proud member of the EM group I'd like to introduce myself shortly. My name is Michael and I'm driving my car in the southern part of Germany. The Cobra came over from the US of America many years ago and since then I've tried to improve it bit by bit (as so many of us do). Even though I think the car is in pretty good shape now there's always something to research about it.
That's what got me thinking if anyone knows about the complete history of the different generations of the EM car production.
As my car has an XKE front suspension with torsionbars I suppose it might be one of the first generations.
So is there any kind of build date or time frame for the several generations? Thank's for help, Mike

When my E-M was built in 2001, the XKE front suspension was an option. After looking at it, I went with the Mustang II front suspension largely because it offered more ground clearance.

Hello Tom,
thank you for the information.
Cool - my car is #0732 and has been ordered by Dec. 16th, 1988.
That´s pretty old as when 30 years old in Germany this passes already as a historical vehicle. And it explains why nobody would have been bothered scrapping an old XKE for a replica.
Those were the good old days.

Hello Mike,
Nice to make your acquaintance if you are still on the forum and driving the Cobra. I recently purchased a Cobra from a friend. The car was built using an E-M kit purchased in 1989. I was told that it would then be a Gen3 build from E-M. It has a Ford 351W engine and used a Mustang II for other components.

We lived in the Munich area for 5 years in early 2000's. Beautiful country and miss it a lot.
