I noticed that there wasn't an EM Group, so I started one.

I "inherited" the 2nd of two EM Cobras that my father and I had built together. We actually purchased one of the first kits EM came out with sometime around '81-'82. I believe it came in 5-6 large pieces.

Needless to say when we decided to build another one we chose the "complete" package. I'm not sure of the "Generation" but it is a 1993 model. Beautifully constructed, the car was a joy to build. After my fathers passing my husband and I decided to have it updated and repainted. That's a story for another thread...maybe a "Nightmares of the Cobra Kind" thread.

Anyway, after finding it's way to Bruce Bunn at Jodeco Auto Body in McDonough Georgia it it now beautiful and fun to drive.

I look forward to getting to know you guys and your cars.

Hey there. Thanks for starting the group. I purchased my E-M about two years ago. Already built by a company in South Florida - RNS Racing. I love the car. Corvette front and rear, power discs on all fours, 351W, double length roll bar, oversized rear tires. It's solid silver with no stripes. Thought about adding stripes, but I think I really like the solid look.
I'm hoping E-M hangs in there. I understand people are not real happy with their customer service and follow up since they've taken new ownership and moved. I've posted a couple of times on the E-M page on this site with no response from them??
Anyway, looking forward to this group and what it can provide.

Greg, I've had the same experience with EM. Gone are the "good ole' days" of calling and getting Brett on the phone.

When they sold and moved to Texas I tried to contact them a few times by phone and no one ever answered. I did finally get an email back once but instead of answering my question they just pitched the new Gen. model. It could have even been a "form" letter email. Needless to say I was very disappointed.

I still believe that it's a good kit though. Brett and them really did a great job with the design. I hope they get it together too.
So how did you come to buy a Cobra....Long love affair or love at first sight?

I may be wrong, but I think Brett is still available if anyone needs him. That was a while back that I heard that, so he may not be around any longer??
I do like the kit and I think they really made a good car.
I came upon my E-M via the internet actually. I ran across a great deal on E-Bay for an E-M in South Florida. The pictures looked really good and the price even better. I've got a brother that lives down in Naples and had him go over and drive the car. He's about as maticulous as I am, so I knew if he gave it a thumbs up, it was a good car. I purchased the car and had it shipped to Atlanta sight unseen!
It's been a great car and gets a lot of attention. The car was actually built professionally by a race shop in S. Florida in 2003, so the fit and finish is awesome.
I've hooked up with a big F5 group here in the Atlanta area and we've taken a few trips - about 18 total cars in our convoy. I'm the only E-M there, but I have to admit I like mine best.

Nice to have an E-M group. Some of the problems you encounter are particular to E-M cars. I have a 93 model with vette suspension. Currently replacing the radiator and installing aluminum panels around oil cooler and radiator.

"Thanks Greg. We are still working on building cars and upgrading several parts we didn’t like. We have new seats, new stainless sidepipes that have a real muffler system with lifetime warranty, and new components. We have built new subcontractor relationships to make many of the parts and are constructing turn key vehicles. We support all past clients with parts and service but are moving away from kits. We have a very sophisticated car now with the GEN IV that requires more adjustments and skill than the average person has and we want to have our cars built as we designed them. To do this we hand fit all the components, finish fit all the running gear and do all the paint and upholstery. While we will sell kit parts we are moving to where that will be a second priority and our attention will be first to turn key orders.

As far as accessible we are travelling to national shows and meets so that results in the shop being closed from time to time. We do answer e-mail and our 800 number and we try to return all calls in one to three days.

Their response seems more of an advertisement than an answer to my questions. One would think that if they're really changing the direction of the company, they would update their website or pay attention to their section of the forum???

I agree with you 100% Greg. That was my experience exactly. The reputation of the company, in my opinion, will have an impact on future sells. From my experience, just looking at threads on this website, past customer experience is one of the first questions that future buyers ask. I really don't see how they can "support all past clients" if they can't even tell you if a currant part will fit an older kit. Ms. Fenimore seems like a nice person from what I've read and she is obviously intellegent, given her degree, I just hope that she can learn to listen to her customers because we want EM to stay around as much as they do...it's good for all of us~G

Hi All E-M Fans and Owners,
I lost my E-M in a fire two years ago and wish to build another. Please let me know of any projects or completed cars with four wheel independent suspension and manual tranmission and a STRETCHED WHEEL BASE. Mine was a 96" wheel base. I am almost 6'3" so ingress and egress with a 90" is impossible.
Cause of fire was a stuck starter solenoid which over heated cables and started fire. I had double roll bars, Modified 351 Cleveland 4V, Tremac TKO, T-Bird transaxle with posi-trac and E-M independent suspension with six coil overs ans sway bars. I miss it all the time.
