Any of you guys or gals running a T56 in your EM? If so, how well did it fit?

Ralphy,
I've got a T56 Magnum going in now. It's not so much the "fit", as it is the driveline angles. With the T56 Magnum, I'm going from a 12-3/4" driveshaft to a 7-3/4" driveshaft. I want to have less than 1.5 degrees of driveline angle, so engine and rearend positioning must be very precise. I have fabricated different frame mounts for the engine that allow me to change the pitch, yaw, lateral position, and height position. I can also vary the pinion angle. A different trans mount will need to be fabricated as well. In the past, my setup allowed me to play around with different engine heights and still maintain proper driveline angles with the 12-3/4" driveshaft, but this 7-3/4" driveshaft will be a challenge. I'm confident that trans will work though. Sidepipe angle is another concern when changing the engine angles. I fabricated my headers to allow correction to be made without having to change headers.

Wow, I never considered the header alignment being changed. How much height change app. did you need ? I'm guessing you needed to lower the tail shaft.

Body came off and went to paint yesterday so I started mock up on the trans. With my engine set back and a Dana44 diff, I'll have a 7.8" driveshaft. So, first I need to get the tailshaft and pinion centerlines parallel within 1/2 degree. Then I need to get the centerlines concentric within .21 inches. That will establish the 1.56 degree maximum driveline angle that I'm looking for with a 7.8" driveshaft.

T56 Magnum is in. The Magnum is a very long trans, about 2" longer than the regular T56, but the ratios are alot better. I ended up with the pinion and the output shaft parallel +/- 0.0 degrees. The output shaft and the pinion are concentric within 0.1" The total driveline angle is 0.7 degrees. This is MUCH better than the angles the original E/M design had even though the driveshaft is 5" shorter.

I had to fab a new crossmember 6" rearward.
with a 1-3/4" dropped mount.
I also move the engine 3/4" to the passenger side.
The lowest point of the trans ended up 1" below the frame.
