NAF Frame Replacement?

Hi,

Am considering a new frame for my NAF 427. Really don't care for the limitations of the OEM Mustang II front end, nor the 8" live axle rear (not to mention the rear drum brakes).

Have spoken to Unique about tweaking their frame to fit (the bodies are close to identical and the NAF frame is a (poor) copy of their early frames), but that's a $10K solution...

Anyone have some ideas or (better yet) actual experience with this?

Dave,

On mine I have tubuler 1" shorter upper and lower control arms, to get the tires under the fenders. Then I lowered the coilover lower mount to lower the front. Took the stock Must II strut rods off and put on Heihdts tubular strut rods. Put x bracing on the front cross member to stiffen it up and to mount the oil filter adapter. Stock Mustang uprights with discs. Working up a mount for a mazda swaybar. The rear frame has been cut widened, modified and set up for a satchell link suspension. Narrowed 9" to get the tires under the fenders, fitted with coilovers and disc brakes. Also mounts for mazda sway bar. Haven't finished to drive yet to see how all the mods will work.....Pictures in my gallery of most the mods.

I had a complete front clip made for mine a few years ago. The frame was cut off at the middle of the oil pan, everything forward was built on a surface plate and then put under the car and tig welded in place. Pictures in my gallery. Narrowed the track, used a modified MGB steering rack, some stock car tubular control arms, everything on High quality rod ends.
