Has anyone decided to move the fuel cap onto the rear quarter panel? I was thinking of doing it. I was wondering if anyone had a "blueprint" so I don't go at it totally in the dark. And it seems as if a fair amount of people are widening the wheel wells. Is that just for a more aggressive stance? Or is there an inherent problem with the wheel wells that were originally molded? Thanks in advance.

I have widened and re-curved out my rear fenders about 1.5 inches. I did that so that I did not have to narrow my rear 56.5 and to ensure the 10 inch rims cleared 295/50/15. The Streetbeast body has more of street style quater panel and so it does not have the S/C style lip or flair.

As far as the filler relocation - I have seen it moved before on our cars. Both to the fender and to the center of the body just behind the center of the driver and pass.

If you do find a pattern let us know

Left my body alone narrowed a 9" and stuffed the 295/50/15" centered in the opening.

Considered moving the filler neck to fender decided not to because the battery occupies that real estate. Have seen it done also it's all about personal preference.

I thought about moving the filler cap, but after considering it would probably take 2-3 weekends of work (when considering all the final molding, fit and finishing) I decided that I would just mount it somewhere behind the passenger roll cage before the trunk molding. We ended up shorting the rear so it would fit well with the 315 tires.

Mine is behind the passenger it's half way between the trunk opening and the edge of the soft top.I made a custom bent a steel pipe that slides between the filler cap and the spout out of the tank connected with filler neck hose.It's clean and it looks great.

Yes. I moved mine. Pain n the a$$, but I would do it again! Just didn't like the look of the location from Streetbeasts. I was lucky to have a Kirkham at the shop where my COBRA is. Made my pattern from that. Took pics and measured the Kirkham gas cap opening. Took a piece of styrofome(1 inch thick) drew it out then cut to shape. When finished I took another piece (1 inch thick) glued them together and laid the fiberglass in the mold. when hardened shaped it more. Hole sawed the fender, put the molded piece in and fibered it in. LOTS of sanding! I have pics on my profile. Click on the album titled mine. Go for it. I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Some of us do not have the courage to tackle something like that.For me it has always been about not liking to do body work,my passion is in building the drive trains.Did see your pictures Littlewave and it does look good.

There are so many reasons why we love these cars besides their heritage and looks,for me like to talk about the drive train.Spent a lot of hours and leg work talking to all kinds of people Cobra racers,Supermodified racers,Drag racers,engine builders etc etc.Had some of these people help dail in the suspension to be a dual purpose machine.
The best thing about a kit car is that we can do things like this to them and it increases the value not unlike an original.I suppose if I were in a position to own an original I probably would.
