RedEye, what drivetrain are you using? This looks like it would be a great modification to do while I'm in that stage of the build. I'm using a 390 FE with a 4 speed toploader. The engine is in, but the transmission is still getting rebuilt.

Hey jbyrd what kind of money for a rebuild? These 4 speeds are some kind of tough and sure are sweet to row through the gears, to bad they can't be made with OD.
Just remembered I have a completely rebuilt toploader in the shop under a bench may dig it out and put a price tag on it.

Jbyrd - Using a 331 motor, TKO 600 trans, a standard size blast proof bell housing, and 8.8 rear.

I left about 1 - 1(1/2) inches around the trans in every direction and there is more than this around the bell housing.

The main cause for this is that I have a racing type full support seat as well as a custom side impact / forward triangulation outer 1.75" roll bar which travels from the left (right) most roll cage attachment point down the left side of the driver (right side of passenger) down to the floor and bolts through the dashboard bridge floor attachment point. In order to do this I needed as much room as possible.

For what its worth here is my latest attempt to make the cockpit rear lip less large. I used some edging for doors available at any autoparts store. It gives the edge a more finished look and from 10 feet you cant see it. So the lip does not appear to by as big.
