We as Streetbeast owners pretty much rebuild or reingineer everything on our cars. I have seen or done lots!
Redesigned dash layouts.
Reweldeding of frame.
Improved rear geometry.
Moved motor mounts.
Gas filler relocations. (little wave)
Changed Headers sidepipes.
Redesigned door hinges.
Radical recurves of the fenders.
Numerous stlyes of fuel tanks.
Just to name a few off the top things.......

BUT

What about the rear lip on the cockpit? right above the package tray? Its starting to bother me. Its too wide..

I have thought about trimming it down but the cars already painted. I thought about upholstering it

What are your thoughts?

Ha, well I have done all that you listed, and possibly more!

The most fantastic thing... this weekend I'm going to hack apart the inner fiberglass tub to narrow the tunnel so I can more comfortably site in the car as well as not have my legs veer to the left of the steering wheel.

I'll look at what you're proposing and see if I can come up with any ideas, some photos of what you're speaking of may help. I'm going to build a back panel and hatch to cover the back so I need to figure that out too.

Sure sounds like most of us are on the same page.I too did most of the list and the next move is to contour the tunnel slightly where my right leg lays so long hauls will more bearable.
The wife and I both love that area behind the seats it has been an incredibley usefull feature of these neat hot rods.Never gave it a thought about modifying the shape.We did sand away the sharp edges on all the glass throughout the car.Hate working on anything that causes the blood to flow.

Yup

I think we are all going down a similar path with these cars....Redeye-let me know how the tunnel redesign works. I have done that mod several times in my mind when driving on long trips. I keep thinking its a simple fix as there seems to be lots of room in the trans tunnel to work with. But thinking and doing are always far apart for me.

Sorry the uploader rotates the photos. Anyhow, this is the tunnel which I've chopped apart and am now putting back together again. This will allow for the seats to site correctly front to back without rubbing against the tunnel and will allow me to move the pedals in about an inch toward the bell housing so the driver can face directly forward in stead of at an angle to the steering wheel.

A suggestion before you go too far,put one of your seats in and mockup where your pedals will lie and note where the calf of your leg lies.Then try and imagine a long haul with your leg relaxed against the square edge even carpeted.
Our car will get sugery to soften the square edge (tunnel top to tunnel side) Driving this car aggressively makes that edge even more unbearable for me at least.

Interesting thought, thank you. Never thought of that.

I'm still getting use to the notion that I'll be sitting only an inch or two above the horizontal plane of where the pedals are. It's just quite a bit different from a daily driver.

My fuel pedal is floor mounted, and the break and clutch (and pistons) are Tilton upper mounted. Even with the adjusted and widened food wells there is not much room for a dead foot pedal or other resting spot for a wide-foot like me.

After getting mine together and seeing where the pedals were at first made me uncomfortable but got used to it very quick now never think about it.Actually knowing the originals were like that is good enough for me.

Had to install a metal strap on the floor so my throttle foot would stay in place while cruising.It wanted to slide to the left when trying to relax.Also while cruising I slide my left foot under the clutch and brake pedal to stretch the legs.Gotten real good at panic situations pulling my feet back in action.

When mounting my seat pulled the adjusters off to get closer to the floor and set it best for me since I'm the only one to drive the car.Gave me better clearance under the steering wheel.
