From what I understand, these cars were set up to accept a GM style steering column. I believe my dad already purchased one. Just need to find it in his pile of stuff in garage. My question is why did they go with a GM style? Why wouldn't they go with a Ford setup? Ideally, I would rather have a Ford since it is a Cobra. Is my only alternative an IDIDIT?

I bought a Gm didn't like it so bought an Ididit, also bought Borgeson universals and stainless steel connecting shaft. Same plug as Gm columns so harness shouldn't be a problem.I also went w/original style steering wheel but 14". Much happier and it's all new.

You would probably have to modify it to fit but the GM column needs modification also.

If I recollect the provided wire harness is equipped with the GM connector for the column. It plugs in near the bottom and has blinkers, wipers, high beam etc. Shouldn't be to difficult to cut the connector off, single out the wires and connect accordingly. Mine is out of a late 80's trans am and works just fine but I can understand keeping a Ford a Ford. The column is a bolt in install and was very easy

Thanks for the help. I found a column in my dads garage and it is a GM. I have no clue what it goes to. I want to ask him but I obviously can't.
