What did everyone do with the firewall and inner fender panels? Did you leave them original, or paint them, or something else? If you painted them, what did you use?

Just used a satin black paint (nothing special)-but I had often thought about putting a aluminum skin on the firewall and the underside portion of the hood....

The previous owner of my SB covered everything under the hood with aluminum. Looks pretty good as compared to the black gel coat. I'll post some pictures after I go visit this weekend. It's stored some 30 miles away.

My gel coat is white... and came to me pretty beat up so I ended up painting it black with a single application frame paint which I think was a PPG product, about $75.00 a gallon, pretty cheap as far as auto paints go. There is a product out there which is a high polish stainless steel, I thought about putting this on the firewall, but i ended up having so many surfaces this would have been a lot of trouble to go through. Might look nice under the hood though.

I was thinking of cutting metal plates and bolting them on the firewall and maybe the inner fenders. Steel or aluminum, haven't made up my mind yet. Is this overkill? My thoughts were so that I would have a more solid surface to mount/bolt stuff to. And I was thinking it might dampen the heat a bit. Thoughts or suggestions?

Metal over the glass will not dampen the heat much, the glass is more than ample to bolt things too.Honestly I pondered the same thing with aluminum, but in the end because these cars are done well in that area decided to leave things alone.Course we all have different needs have fun.

I thought this was a cool product but I did not do it because I ended up drastically changing the shape of the firewall. I will have a heat and sound sheet material placed on the inside of the firewall though.
