Bargains do happen but, check them out throughly. Most lower price's tend to be they need the money fast, for what ever reason. Look on cobra country, there are some pretty nice cobras.
As far as the engine goes. You can look at the dip stick for clean
oil and use your nose, if it smells like burnt bearings, run. Do a compression and leak down test of the cylinders. Start it and listed for knocking (unless it's a flat tappet cam) Ask for service records. Look at the spark plugs. Take along a qualified mechanic to check it over. Many,... many things you can do.
