Yes, good question. I have thought about it. you have a few choices that will depend on your fab skills. When I get to that point in my build I'll take a few measurements and head to the junkyard to see if I can match up a set. Modern cars use poly-ethylene (PE) plastic for this part that are blow molded to shape and are real flexible. problem wil be finding one thats a reasonable fit. The goal on the WCC is to keep stones from potentially dinging the underside of the fiberglass and damaging the body. If you wanted to save some time @ the junkyard looking, mock one up to the right dimensions (with mounting flanges) using thin sheets of plastic or posterboard from the local art supply store and take it to the junkyard withyou. Alternatively if you have access to a site/store that sells thin PE sheets, you could just make one from scratch and use rivets to fasten it. take a look @ wheel tub designs on the net to get construction ideas for shape.

One drizzly wet weekend I took a trip out to the junk yard and found that most cars, even big ones are not going to work as they have struts which means you need to patch the area on the top of the wheel well where the strut is mounted. I think the one which may make a good match is going to be a Ford Excursion or big truck front wheel liner. These measure to be big enough on first examination. I'm thinking I'll need 2 pair. Mount the one inside on the frame and then mount the other inside the wheel opening. Where they overlap cut them and pop rivet them with about a 2 inch overlap every 6 inches or so. I'll need to cut holes for access to the squirter and coolant water tanks. I am cementing threaded steel flat brackets under the fender at the lip all around the wheel well.

Still working on getting doors fitted, door latches mounted and final body work done. It's fishing season still and my hired body man has his priorities set on that. I can't blame him though.

I would think long and hard about enclosing fenderwells. These cars are notorious for overheating to begin with. Add more restriction and it could get worse.

Kitcarbp has a fix for the overheating problems with the WCC design. I have yet to do the modifications on my baby.

Kitcarbp, please elaborate for us the problem and solution for the plumbing. Also, if you can tell us what temps you get from running your machine.

Do you honestly think that will make any appreciable difference on temperature control? Wheel wells? If anything, I would propose it would help direct the flow of air to the side vents.

Do you have hot air billowing from your fenders?
