Anyone - Our new to us Cobra only has manual fan control switch, no auto-on-off. Is this normal and if not what switch was used? I see some connectors on the fan way under the nose of the car, it appears to look like a thermostat control but I can't tell as I can't feel or see any bulb or anything. The fan name is not visible either. Have '07, anyone know about the fan system and is it all manual? TIA - S

Also the car has a numbered wiring harness, where can I get the wiring diagram?

It totally depends on how the assembler wired it. You'll have to dig in your wiring harness and take a look at the wires as they come from the harness and the colors. If you do not have a diagram, get an ohm meter and start probing. If there is something which was bypassed it may still be in the radiator. Your best bet is to do some research on what is there. You can get a WCC manual, but that's that's not really a step by step guide. in some cases topics are covered by one sentence, if that. He told me, if you have questions to call him to get the details. Oh yeah!

Ok just figured I'd ask first as that would have been easiest. I've found a mark on it its a flexlite fan, looking at the website to try to figure out if its got a built in thermostat function. There is a electrical lug that is not used on the top need to figure it out. There is no thermostat in the hoses or anywhere else than the standard one on the intake.

This again may not be something that these cars share, but the VDO speedo was really off and erratic. I'm going to start with a ground check and re-calibrating it.

I found a Vern-ism on our car. The flex-a-lite fan was wired in reverse polarity, but turned the correct direction. I called flex lite and found out there are connectors inside the controller you can swap - Vern must have guessed when hooking them up (granted they are not marked on the circuit board). So I guess he installed the fan, then realized it was running the wrong way. Rather than remove it and correct the problem, he reversed the polarity on the leads going into the fan from the car! But this led to other cascading problems such as the AC compressor trigger and the ignition + feed wire for using the thermostatic fan function could not be hooked up due to reverse polarity ... so he cut those wires off!

I saw stubs on the spade lugs. Plus, the thermostatic bulb was shoved inside the crossbars of the mount for the fan, when it should have been stuck through the radiator core by the inlet hose! No wonder the thermostatic function didn't work, it had two major problems. I am getting this straight, just need to run a wire from the AC compressor to the fan controller and an ignition switched power lead.

I removed the fan and reversed the lead on the controller board and then drilled two holes in the fan shroud to run the bulb to the opposite side of the car across the supports. Will seal them up.

Be careful about the fan direction and the blade direction. The flex-a-lite fan I got was a pusher installed as a puller. I did not notice at first, but when you reverse the direction you don't get the same results from the fan at all.... Only if the blades are straight and installed on an angle... like a ceiling fan do you have "reversable" context. The fan cupping nearer the motor shaft won't pull any air in reverse. You'll only get about 3 inches around the perimeter of air flow. Yeah, that's right no air flow in the center. I swapped the fan and motor for an "S" pattern fan and it was a world of difference. This is one of the many reasons WCC's overheat, run hot etc. You'd do good to check the design of your cooling system.

Thanks for input Xack, its a puller just was screwed up somehow some way on install I think. Its Flex model 30

When the fan was running even here in TX it seemed cool. But also noticed right side of radiator was lacking a seal on nose so air could go around, will put a barrier on that like modern car to force air through radiator. It also has a recovery tank ahead of front wheel which was different. Not sure how much of this is typical. going to test on the bench.

That post was edited for a picture of the fan, but its not showing up. I put in gallery. This is an awkward forum, the text limit and pics are awkward for sure. ..just sayin'. I'm on about 3 dozen other forums and know the good from OK to ugly. This isn't ugly but its not good. Why didn't this start under MFG like the rest of the of them? WCC is not listed. confusing to a newbie, luckily I got guidance from Xack.
