Hi Guys
Anybody out there have the
caliper bracke
t that Vern supplied for the front brakes that they want to sell? The caliper mounting holes are 3 1/2 inches on center (1st picture).

they are probably dynalites, they will have a number on the caliper.
those brackets are not avail. a friend with a 82 kellison had to buy new calipers from wilwood or heidts and get the newer bracket, which is different to use the newer style calipers, i believe the brake hose is the same and will fit on the 11" granada rotor. if you have the 9" rotor its a good idea to upgrade anyway to the granada rotor.
i would call wilwood directly for the proper tech info and they will steer you in the right direction. i would get some pics of the calipers so they can ID them

I already spoke with Wilwood and they told me it's not their bracket. I think it's a Vern special, thats why I was asking if anybody had them.

On later cars, there is Cheby brakes and custom made parts. Some members had issues with the homemade parts which the welds broke.. Yikes!. BoboCobra had his mechanic install new Wilwood conversion on the Mustang II/Pinto Spindles. You can also find other manufacturers who will do the same. Yeah, you may plunk down up to $2000. for a conversion, but you won't be making parts either.

Yep, in the picture on the left there are two spacers welded to the plate. The spacer on the right had the weld fail. The reason was poor welding/design. When the weld failed the bolt sheared. Then the caliper came off, broke the brake line and lost fluid. It got exciting but it happened at about 5 mph at an idle so the e-brake was my best friend. Threw them away and used a direct mount caliper and larger disc. I have 17" wheels so lots of types to choose from, cost was a secondary concern after they got my heart to start beating again. I had taken my son the day before on a spirited ride in the mountains... I should have saved the part for pictures but was so mad I threw them away, sorry. I believe this is a Vern attempt to copy the Granada bracket but to use a larger caliper with custom spacing.

For cars that use the GM midsz car caliper (NOT WILWOODs)on Must II spindles, Granada Brake rotors, 15" wheels, ALLSTAR sells a Cast iron caliper bracket option instead of using a plate steel version with the welded boss that seem to be popular with the rotor/brake kits out there. The part number is 42106. I have not installed these yet but will do so before the car is on the road. The Cast versions should be stronger and more durable than the plate with welded bosses. The Vern welded brackets are 100% suspect quality and dangerous on the braking system, kinda important me thinks.
