What is the best way to install shoulder belts? I Have seen some WC's mounted to the lap belt mounts. This dosen't sound right to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have Simpsons? I just made a bar that went between my back seat bolts. Drilled it and attached an standard belt to that. Ran it halfway up the seat and attached the shoulder harness with another bolt. Seems to be solid.

pb4ugo.... Thanks for the reply. I have Simpson lap belts now but looking at installing schroth Rallye Cross ASM harnesses. Car is a street cruiser only so I don't have to follow "exact" track saftey rules, but want to make sure I don't do something dangerous. Did you remove the upholstery then drill and install the bolts to the seat back?

I too the seats out. I had an extra set of standard seat belts. I took the buckle side of each set and used that as an extension for the shoulder harness. It seemed a lot more solid of a set up attaching those to a bar on the bottom of the seat then drilling the seat itself.

Thus I have a bar running between the rear bottom seat bolts. In the middle and nut/bolt attached to the standard belt. That single belt runs vertical up the seat. Half way up the back of the seat the other end of the belt is bolted to the bottom of the simpsons harness. Hope that makes sense.

You can attach the shoulder harnes to the roll bar tube mount and run it through the back of the trunk wall behind the seat.

Thanks. Thats what Iv'e decided to do. I'm making a bracket that will bolt to the existing roll bar tube mount.

Depending on how you have your fuel tank installed, you might be able to run a bar from roll-bar mount on each side and mount the harness to that.

When I had the body off the frame I looked at it and came up with a post I welded to the frame and a gusset on the back-side. (behind the post) They are on either side of the fuel tank "area" and wide enough to allow wiggling the fuel tank in the body. I had threaded inserts welded into the post(tubes) so I could incorporate a (possible) tank mount and mount point for the seat harness behind the "Firewall" fiberglass. I had to punch holes in the fiberglass as I mounted the body on the frame and lowered the body on top of the 2 vertical posts and gussets.
