After a scary, stuck throttle incident last fall, I'm committed to replacing the push-pull cable in my West Coast Cobra with either a linkage / rod-end system (more authentic) or a cable system (modern design, more probable).

Right now I'm looking at the Factory Five accelerator pedal (Accelerator Pedal - Factory Five Parts Catalog) and cable (Accelerator Cable - Factory Five Parts Catalog). They're quite reasonably priced and s/b proven, given how many kits produced by FF.

FWIW, the pedal looks to me like a Lokar but, then again, many of them look very similar.

Has anyone has used the FF setup in a West Coast Cobra or Kellison Stallion? Others (e.g. Lokar)? Any thoughts or comments?

I used LOKAR pedal and cables. I was fitting the push cable and when I pushed on it, it bound up! You cannot put more than a radius less than a foot on it before it causes issues. It was going to be an accident waiting to happen!
The Lokar stuff works like a charm. You can route it any way you like with pretty much no restrictions.

Good to hear - I'm certainly not keen on repeating the stuck throttle ride. Life is too short as it is.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you ever get this issue worked out and what was the fix? I looked at a WCC yesterday that I could feel the throttle cable was binding and it reminded me of this thread.

I know your not looking for my reply, but the Lokar solution is much better than the push cable option. You can decide how to work a solution best for you. You cannot have a complete "factory" solution which is complely safe. You need to decide what options you need for your build that work on the car. This car from the "factory" is a nightmare. It is frought with design problems because the West Coast product has been compromised at every angle with cost cutting in mind. That is not so much an opinion as it is a harsh reality.

I installed the Factory Five pedal assembly last year and, while it wasn't the easiest thing to do (mostly due to tight spaces in the foot box and figuring out where to bring out the cable in the engine compartment) I'm glad I did it. It has a much better feel and certainly seems like a much safer and more reliable design.
