Bob,

Bill and I have been PM'ing for quite some time on problems we've encountered with the suspension, cooling system, brakes, etc. etc. Are you completely finished and satisfied with your build? Do you have any unsolved problem areas? Maybe we could pick your brain on problems we've yet to discover.

Oh, Bill I wasn't aware that you had the split kit order going.... I sure hope Vern's still in business but I have given up trying to get an answer at the business phone #

You need to take a look at the rear control arms. I have replaced mine along with the rubber bushings. Let me know if you would like more info. The guy that fabricated mine had me post on here about the problem, and has made some for other owners that had the same problem.

One other thing to look for is how your harness attaches at the top. The top belts are supposed to attach within 3" of the top of the seat or below your neck......or something like that. Drew that fabricated my control arms, (who is NHRA certified) let me know with mine attached at the bottom of the seat, I will crush my spine if I am in an accident....not a pleasant thought. That is my next modification. It would be much easier before the body is mounted to correct this.

My car was built in 1988, and I'll Come clean and confess now, I didn't build it. I bought it last year from the original owner. All the build info was lost, so I have been collecting part info and documenting as much as I could from the original owner. The first thing I replaced was the Mustang II front end to a tubular upper and lower control arm set up with QA1 coil over shocks and replaced all rear bushings. Next on the list is to up grade the brakes to power and changing the rear drums to discs. I have had no cooling problems at all, even in Arizona summer time the temp has yet to go over 200. The cooling system appears to be all original West Coast stuff. I have the gas smell in the trunk that I've heard others discuss on this site. What's the fix for this?

In general the car handles and rides well and has been great to drive. My wife and I have taken many long road trips with no problems.

I got a hold of a WCC builder not far from Vern's shop (Thanks for the Contact Brent). He stated Vern is in Europe and is delayed in returning due to a visa issue but is still in business. Expects it resolved within 3 weeks or so. I hope to hear from Vern soon.

That would be.....if still in business means returning zero responses to emails, never answering the phone or responding to phone messages..... somehow I doubt that Vern's still in business....at least for me.

My WCC is a 1999. I also have the gas smell in the trunk. Is there any fix for this? My newest problem is the brake booster. Is there any way to get a part number?

Rob, I have the CARDONE re-man part number at home for the POWER brake booster fitted on 2004 kits. Believe its from Ford light duty truck. I will dig up and forward to you. Based on what I found on Cardone's website ( I lost the part number), I narrowed the booster part down to 75-79 F100 and F150 trucks among others. This is a power brake booster used on my 2004 WCC chassis. The photos match up exactly but until you remove it and compare side-by-side I cant offer more details. Need to confirm stroke and pushrod lengths to make sure you get the right one.

I would stay away from Cardone brand (mine leaked since day one) and go with a NAPA part (IMHO) instead.

Regarding the gas smell, I have discovered that the flip-latch gas filler leaks gas vapors. I used a gas detection instrument and found it very bad around the outside of the filler. I have tried putting in a gasket to get a better seal, but after the car was hot, the vapor production was off the charts.

I am getting a different custom gas tank with a better venting system and sealed filler. This should take care of the problem.

How many of you have had similar problems and have you checked the filler?
