Greetings All,
If anyone has a patern and has had a dash panel made I'm interested in replacing my "Burled Wood" with a brushed aluminum one.
I could take mine apart and send it to a machine shop, but I was wondering if anyone has constructed one and has information on a place to call to get one made.
Thanks,
Xack

I just covered mine with leather to match the rest of the car. I contemplated going with aluminum but my builder talked me out of it due to the glare and light reflection he has experienced on other cars.

Xack, If you are only interested in changing the surface appearance of the dash and not chnage gauge locations etc, I would apply a adhesive backed laminate covering to give it a new look. I would stay away from bright surfaces since the reflection in the sunnshine while driving will drive you crazy. Outdoor sign companys have enormous selections of laminate materials that are proven weatherable durable materials that would be perfect. After even looking at different carbon fiber laminates and getting samples, I decided to go with a simple flat black vinyl laminate over aluminum plate that I will fabricate myself. Another place is Body shops that do alot of vinyl graphic appliques for cars and trucks have access to great materials that will be durable for covering the dash. The key is UV resistant for use in a roadster. my 2 cents

That's an interesting proposal. A thinner fiberglass panel covered with the same, or similar material as my black vinyl interior. It'll blend with the interior and perhaps it'll make the guages stand out.
I am a fan of the simple original Cobra dash.
Thanks for your input.

Mohuska,
Can you take a photo of your dash and post it for us here?

Mine is the short version it is cast aluminum and flat black face. I am not deeply thrilled with it for I was thinking about the burly walnut, but I will change it when I reupholster my car in black leather.
cheers
