Good morning guys:
Does anyone have or knows of someone who wants to part with their roll bar, I have a friend who is looking for one like the one on our cars.

Have you checked with Painter to see if he has any?

I have reached out to Painter numerous times for other parts and I have gotten the same answer as I got from Vern---"0" no replies...
I feel that we the WCC are OTS "
out there someplace
" on our own.

Sorry to hear that. I have sent him several PM's and got responses. It did take a while but I got responses.
As far as the roll bar goes, I am sure it wouldn't be hard to measure one and have one custom made. It is only 4 bolts, just a thought. I know I wouldn't mind having one a little taller just enough so that it could be used as a real roll bar at least.

I'm modifying mine by adding about 3" to 4" to the height. Inside diameter tube going up to the curve and then an extension added to get the ~3". I'm thinking about welding the seam around the bar at the extension. Initially, I was just going to drill the 2 mount holes at the bar mount sockets to secure the bar. One through the roll bar and one through the extension. I keep thinking that it may be too wobbly like that. Maybe not. I'd like to hear some feedback. Is it dangerous to weld chrome? Or am I thinking about
zinc
galvanized?

Either way you have to grind it down a little. Chrome isn't as bad as galvanized. Galvanized you just need to grind down a little to get the galvanizing off.

Update on Painter
I was on the phone with John (Painter) yesterday 4-27-16 and finally we had a nice long talk, I hope that our cars will now have a bit more of a resemblance to customer service. As a matter of fact I ordered the pair of stainless steel door sills from him. He told me that Vern is in bad health and pretty much disconnected from the world, however, he still has control of the site and does not want to release it. Go figure!
I will keep you guys posted f any changes positive or negative.
Regards
Lou
