That's hard to get a comparison. What kind of difference did it make in your opinion? Also, I have heard you need a little back pressure on the exhaust, not sure if that is a myth as I used to run straight headers all the time. I want to pull them and leave them out. comments?

They are much louder than with baffles in. I would say double to triple the sound. Per both my exhaust guy and engine guy there is no adverse effect by running the open pipes other than you need ear plugs to drive it more than around the corner.

I pulled my baffles and they were about 2" throat. I ran the car without any baffles and holy cow,I loved the sound but the problem is hearing is overrated,but necessary, and the local police would have a problem. I had 3 people approach me at the gas station to listen to the car. the only thing I did not like was the high pitch popping at decel that inserts muffle out. Ambient temp is about 50 degrees and I could not get the car to stay at 180, it wanted to run between 150 and the 180 t-stat. I put 2 of the Patriot augers in each side and it cut the noise down 60%. I like the deep idle but the drive sound is pretty quiet. I wish I had only put in 1 as pulling them out will NOT be easy. Car is running at 180+ depending on my foot and temp is more consistent. Bottom line is the inserts make a huge difference in sound and running temp. My guess is it also robs about 50hp, it has to based on the temp (exhaust flow). I REALLY liked the sound with no baffles,but I would be deaf in a week.

That is why I wear ear plugs everywhere. I also had the carb tuned to run with no baffles, so that might be why you are getting the popping, it was too lean.

I have heard from many people it is the loudest car they have ever heard.

I had double Patriot augers in each of my side pipes and they were too quiet. I pulled one of each pair out and it is much better. If / when I change, I'll be going to the Flowmaster Slim Line Laminar Flow mufflers - stainless steel, 3.5" I.D., 4.5" O.D., and "Cool Shell Technology" - so no heat shields are required. Summary of dyno testing of Flowmasters against some others on a ~500 HP SBF: "Significantly quieter, better sound (compared to FFR), the most HP and they stay cool." Hi All , Not sure if anyone else have tried these but one WCC owner installed Classic Chambered Exhaust mufflers. Take a look at their products. Classic Chambered Exhaust Inc. - Home Page
The mufflers that sold with the WCC kit back in the day are pretty restrictive.
