This is more of a post for info. So I upgraded my electric fans a while back, but haven't driven it much since.
Well Saturday I drove around 200 miles after changing my rear upper control arms.
So I noticed my volt meter bouncing a wee bit between 14 volts and 12 volts then on the drive home I seen it stop bounding and it just stayed at 12 volts, well by the time I got home it was 10 volts.
So I go through the build book (thankfully I have those, worth extra money when you sell by the way), and found the original alternator was a 60 amp. Well my Fans take 40 amp under max load, the MSD controller is 10 amp, then you have the Coil and trying to charge the battery. So needless to say I was maxed out.
Ordered a new 100 amp which should give me plenty. Thankfully it wasn't night time or I would have been getting towed home.
