Hey Mark, the latest info I have is the recent WCC builds have used the glass and frame from "international wholesalers". They resell to a few vendors but I think "painter" here on this forum can help you get one. The earlier build cars use a different style frame and I dont know if the newer glass will fit ( I am about to find out! ) i have a W/S frame from 80's and it needs glass and replating to look perfect again. You can still source frames and glass from England but with shipping it gets pricey. Let us know what you did and how it turned out

The current windshield should have numbers on it that you can use to find a replacement. They'll indicate manufacturer and model, as well as adherence to ANSI windshield safety code.

Here's some info or reference purposes and the use of others.

The ID on my windshield is as follows:

VIRACON
LAMINATED
ASI M-60 DOT 129
Made In USA
4 24

According to this post (http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...tml#post947047) Viracon is no longer in the auto glass business. Regardless, the poster indicated he was able to get replacement glass only (e.g. no frame) from Shell Valley.

BTW, I believe any good auto glass shop should be able to take that information and cross-reference it to currently available windshields.

Let's decode that:

Viracon: This mark identifies the manufacturer, by their name and/or logo (“the manufacturer’s distinctive designation or trademark”).

Laminated: Laminated safety glass. Often, the trademark name of the glass is present.

AS1: The AS number stands for American Standard, and is “AS” (or “American Standard”) followed by a number indicating the position in which the glass may be used, based on its optical quality. AS1 is the clearest glass (at least 70% light transmission), is laminated, and can be used anywhere in a motor vehicle (typically just the windshield)

M-60: "The M number is unique to the manufacturer, so an M number of M312 by one manufacturer could be different than glass labeled as M312 by another manufacturer. It identifies the glass construction, including the color and thickness."

DOT 129: :The DOT code (DOT number) is the letters “DOT” followed by a number that the Department of Transportation (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) assigns to the manufacturer of the glass. This is required by FMVSS205 section S6.2. If you have a DOT code, here's a page that lists all known DOT codes." DOT number search: DOT Number Database

Viracon shut down its auto glass division in 2007, so finding cross-reference or application guide information is very difficult. Auto glass firms may have a cross-reference guide or on-line access to such information, but I couldn't find it. A better source may be those specializing in Cobras and parts, like Cobra Restorers or Finishline.

There was a thread from 2009 (Note: can't find thread), where Scufty was looking for a windshield for his Butler - presumably same was used for Arntz Cobras: help with windshield
